On Twitter

Digital Outreach (DO) offers avenues of timely, critical response and engagement, and it promises a real presence to those searching for answers.

How will Twitter, along with the website & other Social Media platforms, DO through engagement:

    • Allows for guests to participate in discussions and devotions, etc.
    • Discover and engage in conversation about important topics in the community.
        • Mention other Twitter users (people, businesses, and/or churches) in tweets for wider distribution and engagement (i.e. notifies and offers them the chance to see the tweet).
        • Follow other people and pages that are important and related to the community and congregation.

    • Share worship times, upcoming outreach events and other opportunities, and an invitation of welcome (Using a hashtag [#] for a service or event is a great way to see content from a wide variety of people attending and sharing).
    • Distribute encouraging and inspirational quotes and images, offering something for guests and members to “take away”.
    • Provide glimpses into the worship life of the congregation through images, super-brief testimonials (280 characters), photos and testimonials of service activities/events, short quotes from sermons or hymns/songs, etc.
        • Use hashtags (#) to classify tweets as part of a conversation on a topic or event.

    • Use a volunteer of the week to share short quotes/stories about what God is doing in the community and in the congregation.
    • Send people to the website where they can find resources and information which may be of help to them or send them links directly through a post or Direct Message.
    • Share means to submit prayer requests and/or faith/theological questions.

Target audience according to survey from 2015: Twitter has over 271 million active users who tend to be younger, with 35% between the ages of 18 and 29 – This means the 21-49 age bracket.
