On Instagram

Digital Outreach (DO) is about building dynamic, interactive, multi-layered activities and services that expand the church’s reach to connect with billions of users 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, so that any person, anytime, and anywhere, can become a disciple of Jesus Christ and enter into a life-changing, world-transforming journey of faith, hope and love.

How will Instagram, along with the website & other Social Media platforms, DO through engagement:

    • Distribute encouraging and inspirational quotes and images, offering something for guests and members to “take away”.

    • Provide glimpses into the worship life of the congregation and activities through images/videos of 60 seconds or shorter, super-brief testimonials, photos and testimonials of service activities/events, short quotes from sermons or hymns/songs in image form, etc.
        • Use hashtags (#) to classify image as part of a post or event.
    • Allows for participation in conversations and/or devotions, etc.
    • Share worship times, upcoming outreach events and other opportunities, and an invitation of welcome in image form (Using a hashtag [#] for a service or event is a great way to see content from a wide variety of people attending and sharing).

    • Use a volunteer of the week to share short quotes/stories about what God is doing in the congregation and community through images or video of 60 seconds or shorter form.
    • Share means to submit prayer requests and/or faith/theological questions.

Target audience according to survey from 2015: Instagram’s 200 million active users, 53% are between the ages of 18 and 29 – This means the 13-49 age bracket.
